Women Pilots on the Increase

To state a fact: Most pilots in the world today are male. However, the number of female pilots worldwide is increasing.
 
Some statistics from the U.S. alone: Since 2000 the number of female pilots has increased by nearly 19%. The number of those who hold Airline Transport Pilot Certificates (ATP), the highest certification a pilot can achieve, is up 35%. There were an estimated 42,218 female certificate holders in 2010; this is approximately 7% of the total 627,588 certificated pilots, according to the FAA.
 
As far as female U.S. Commercial and ATP certificates, the number of women rose from 10,218 in 2000 to nearly 14,000 in 2010.
 
Female airline dispatchers is also increasing: the number rose 71% in the past 10 years, and the number of female flight instructors increased 7% during that time period.
