  • Charles Lindbergh was the first to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, solo and without refueling.
  • Yuri Gagarin was the first to open the door to space travel.
  • Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. (He learned to fly at age 15).
  • Chuck Yeager was the first man to break the sound barrier (1947).
  • Steve Fossett made the first solo circumnavigation of the globe in a balloon and fixed wing aircraft (2002 and 2005).
  • Dick Rutan and Jeana Yager circled the globe without any re-fueling (1986).
