Low-cost carriers (LCCs) have taken the commercial aviation world by storm the past decade. As a young professional pilot, you may find you are interested in flying for one of these LLCs somewhere in the world. Low cost carriers are often lumped together as one category of commercial airlines when analysed, but they do differ in terms of their size and their profitability. So if you are deciding which airlines you would prefer to fly for or to which airlines to send your resume, you may want to consider the following Top 10 of the world’s most successful LCCs. Many graduates of Phoenix East Aviation fly for LCCs throughout the world. The Top 10 LCCs worldwide are North America: AirTran, JetBlue, Southwest, Westjet South America: GOL Europe: easyJet, Ryanair Middle East: Air Arabia Asia-Pacific: AirAsia (including thai AirAsia and Indonesia Air Asia), Virgin Blue. India and Mexico also have fast-growing LCCs, but none have yet established themselves as long-term profitable survivors as have the above-named airlines.
